Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey
NJSA 2c:35-10a(1)
I have this charge on my record that happened to me in August 1998. I did no jail time but I was put on probation and I finished that in March 2001 and I paid off all my fines. Can I submit the papers that the court sent to me to get my record expunged? The court clerks told me that I could. What do you say. The charge is in New Jersey

You are probably eligible depending on the facts and details but there is a 10 year waiting period for convictions (and a plea is a conviction).
We have a number of lawyers here who could assist you. Please call for an appointment if you are interested.

You have to wait ten years from the end date of your sentence, which in this case would be March 2011 if you ended your probation in March of 2001.
