In order to be charged with shoplifting, do you have to be in possesion of the stolen merchandise?

You can be charged with shoplifting if you are with someone who appears to be shoplifting. To
be charged, ;otherwise, one has to have the item under his control. You need to tell me exactly the facts of your case.
