Legal Question in DUI Law in New Jersey

I know someone who was arrested in NY for a dui bac .12, he lives in NJ, the lawyer says he could probably have this reduced to a dwai, which is below a .08. How would this transfer to NJ, and is it a good idea to plea bargin for this

It may be the case that New Jersey would give "someone" the same penalty as it would were the offense to have occurred in New Jersey. The last time I look New Jersey deemed admitting

driving while impaired to be equilavent to the offense of driving where under the influence of alcohol or drug.
