Legal Question in DUI Law in New Jersey

Surcharges

My lic. Has been suspended since july 06' i have already paid $1200 in surcharges, this is my 2nd offense. I just got another surcharge in the mail for $1000. Why am i getting another? I paid dmv the 1st time and this one sais mvvss. Does this seem correct? I feel like i'm paying them twice. The letter format is different so it's not the same. My license will be restored in july 08' so why would they send me this so late in the year if its' a minimum of $100 a month?

Re: Surcharges

Youo should certainly speak to somebody about this. Your surcharges/fines for a second offense DUI shouldn't be more that $1500.

Keep in mind that this advice is given based on the small amount bit of information that you have provided in your question. My advice may change based on other information. Further, you should not rely on advice from an attorney who has not been formally retained.

If you would like to consult with me in more detail on this matter, please send an email to my office to arrange for further discussion. Include a note in your email that mentions Law Guru, and there will be no charge for the initial consultation (whether by phone or email).

All the best,
