Legal Question in Education Law in New Jersey

Student unfairly disciplined

My daughter was on a work program offered threw her high school. She was employeed at a bank. She was fired from for withdrawing money from here checking account threw a mac machine. She was aware she could not cover the withdraw but her direct deposited pay check was going in, and she assumed it would be processed before the mac withdraw was posted. The bank did an investagation and she was fired for the reason of fraud. The bank notified the school and she was removed from the work program and suspended for three days. In addition to these actions she was told she could not attended her senior class trip. She was submitted a student handbook in the beginning of the year outlining her pre-trip stipulations, which provided 4 reason that you would be not allowed to participate in the trip. None which applied to her, you had to have more than one suspension or other combination of offenses for you to be excluded from the trip. I need to know if there is anyway I can fight the discussion made by the principle and superintendent. They said because stealing was involved she could not go on her trip. This is the one and only time she was in trouble in here 4 years of high school.

Re: Student unfairly disciplined

hi - you could ask to appeal the suspension to the school board. usually, people go with an attorney to the meeting, who enters a letter of representation and represents you/your child. if you have any other questions, feel free to call me at 609 263-0089. good luck !!
