Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Emancipation of Child Support

I have a 18 year old son attending community college in NJ (I reside in FL), and was wondering when can I file for emancipation of Child support ? I am under a court order to pay child support but is 18 or 21 the correct age to stop paying it ? Short of him joining the military, getting married or quitting college full-time will ANY of these senarios get me a basis for filing an emancipation with the courts in NJ ??

Re: Emancipation of Child Support

The age in NJ is 18, but that is just the starting point. You need to file in New Jersey. An attorney can do this for you. If any of those situations occur, you can get him emancipated. If none of those occur, you may still be able to get him emancipated, but it won't be easy.
