Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Do I have to pay back child support

In March of 1999,My husband took me to court to demand that he get credit for social security payments, that I recieved. He was told that according to state statute,if his check wasn't reduced, which it was not, then he could not get relief from the support that he ows.Now he is taking me back to court to make me pay back the monies that I've recieved for back child support. His arrears,to date are $17,000.00.If this has already been ruled on in 1999 do I have to worry about paying any of this money back?Thank you for your time and trouble.
