Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

How can I get a refund on incorrect measured/poor quality kitchen cabinets

I received kitchen cabinets that were poor quality. The sales girl measured incorrectly. I had some replaced and the 2nd ones also came in poor quality. The tops were hung by a contractor. The bottoms were returned. The problem is the dealer/maker will only refund me $2,200.00 out of $4,600.00. He wants me to sign a release form not pursiung this matter. HELP!

Re: How can I get a refund on incorrect measured/poor quality kitchen cabinets

You should consult with an attorney experienced in the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act. There are a whole set of laws under the Act that apply to home improvements like yours. If the contractor violated those laws, you may be entitled to triple your damages plus attorneys fees and court costs. As an example, the contractor cannot demand final payment before the job is complete, the contractor must be sure that all permits are obtained before beginning work, etc.

Don't sign anything until you consult with an attorney! I agree with Mr. Chulsky's opinion. Good Luck.
