Legal Question in Immigration Law in New Jersey

Please help. I have a shoplifting case pending in court for a value of $ 55.00. I am currently on Green Card, how would a conviction or guilty plea affect me at immigration ( land/air ) if I travel out of country. I read online about a Petty Offence exception that I could avail as this is my first and only offence. Is it granted to everyone eligible at immigration ( first offence, possible jail term less than a year etc) Do I need to specifically do anything for the Petty Offence Exception to be applied and to be admitted back in US when I'm travelling. Please advise.

My firm can prepare the necessary Criminal Evaluation which will document to you and the Criminal Attorney exactly what is your immigration situation and the best alternatives for a plea that will have the least effect on your immigration status and will minimize the damage that could occur in future deportation hearings.
