Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Hostile work environment

I recently left a lucrative software sales position to take another position which payed more and enabled me to expand my sales skills into the marketing arena. Since taking the job, my boss (the owner of the company) has made my life a living hell. He has belittled and humiliated me, and embarrassed me in front of others. According to him everything I do is a waste of time, and all of my suggestions would waste his money. He drinks during the day, and encourages others to drink during sales meetings in the office (which are held after hours). I am the only woman in these meetings, and the guys refer to people who don't drink Johnny Walker Black as ''p__ssies''.

Do I have grounds for a hostile work environment suit? I've tried to get my old job back, but my position was filled. I get sick every morning when I get up and think about having to go to work and deal with this idiot.

Re: Hostile work environment

The facts that you have described sound as though they are consistent with a hostile work environment theory. However, much investigation needs to be done before that can be definitively determined.
