Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

Hi, I'm a business owner and my landlord has billed me for a huge amount for snow removal. Our lease does say I am responsible for cleaning the snow. I did for 10 years then all of a sudden the landlord sent people to start removing the snow. I didn't request it or question it. He did it for two years and after two years billed me a ridiculous amount. I think he is over billing me. I wanted to know whether I have to pay the amount even though I never requested that they shovel. The company he hired gave me their phone number and told me to call them when we needed the snow shoveled so we did. He says because we called, we requested it. Is there anyway to get out of him overcharging us for the snow removal bill? Or at least paying less of the crazy amount he billed me that we don't think he actually paid to the snow removal company?
