Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Rent increase DURING current lease.

I've received an invoice for the final month of my 1-year lease (apartment). The amount reflects the same increase that would take effect if I renew the lease for another year (I am not renewing). However, this increase has somehow appeared on the final month of the CURRENT lease. I have never agreed to this amount. Is this legal?

Re: Rent increase DURING current lease.

Without seeing the lease, and accepting your explanation, you do not have to pay the increase. The rent cannot be raised during the initial term unless it clearly states so in the lease.
