Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Florida car driving in new jersey?

I have a car with Florida plates. I got a ticket for obstruction of view in New Jersey. I'm pretty sure out of state vehicles can have Neons (which are not legal in new jersey). So is it legal for me to leave my music player mounted on the windshield? Can I get out of this ticket?

Re: Florida car driving in new jersey?

While it may be perfectly legal to have a Neon in FL, if they are considered unlawful in NJ, then you must comply with NJ law. As the old adage goes, when in Rome Ever notice the signs in VA that tell you radar detectors are illegal? A NJ driver would be subject to the same punishment as a VA driver for violating this law.

This does not mean that you have to roll-over and pay this ticket. I would advise that you contact a NJ attorney to find out what options are available to you.

Do you still reside in FL?

Keep in mind that this advice is given based on the small amount bit of information that you have provided in your question. My advice may change based on other information. Further, you should not rely on advice from an attorney who has not been formally retained.
