Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Got pulled over driving with a foreign license

I just got pulled over driving with a valid foreign driver's license. The officer gave me a ticket and wrote under the offense ''Unlicensed driver, Never licensed'' and I'm required to go to court.

Do I have to bring a lawyer with me and what would be the fine??

You should hire an attorney. The offense with which you are charged, upon conviction, will suspend you privilege to drive in New Jersey or to apply for a New Jersey driver's license for six months.

Re: Got pulled over driving with a foreign license

Obviously were were not "never licensed". Whether you had a legal license in NJ on the day the ticket was issued is a legal issue. I suggest you discuss the matter with an attorney.

I can tell you that police officers are not experts in foreign licenses and will often ticket people for driving with them. That may be simply due to their unfamiliarity or perhaps a belief that some of them may be fraudulent or being used improperly. Again, I suggest you speak with an attorney. Call me if you would like to discuss it further at 877*688*3879.
