Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Finding heirs

What is the time frame that an adminstrator of an estate should find heirs of an estate. The adminstrator in question is an attorney. Can they not make an effort to locate the heirs? Is this regular practice?

Re: Finding heirs

The executor must try and locate the heirs. Normally this is not too difficult, but occasionally it can be. In those situations, the executor should employ an heir search firm to locate the heirs or conclusively determine that they have died.

If the executor will not do this on his own, you need to pressure him. This can be done by filing suit against the executor to compel an accounting.

You should contact a trust and estates attorney to help you.
