Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Inventory of an estate

My sister died intestate last year. Her estate includes a house. There is an admnistrator for her estate. There is a document requiring a ''true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattels and credits, and render a just and true account of the administration''.

People have removed from the estate many things for themselves. Some of her possessions have been put out for trash. Some of her possessions have been donated to charity.

There has not been an inventory done. What can be done to preserve what is left of my sister's estate as well as return what has been taken?

Re: Inventory of an estate

If this has been done with the knowledge and consent of the Administrator you should immediately petition the Court to have him removed and to account for the missing assets. You do not describe who the "people" are that removed things and/or under what authority they have acted. You should see the house is protected from entry by any unauthorized persons and solicit the court's approval if necessary.
