in nj do beneficiaries have to right to see account balances and transactions in the estate. so far the executor has refused information.

Yes, the estate representative (executor or administrator) has the fiduciary duty to provide an accounting to all beneficiaries except those receiving specific bequests (gifts of specific assets or amounts that are not part of the residual estate). If this is not done, the beneficiaries can initate court action to compel it.
