Legal Question in Family Law in New Mexico

My son was born when I was turning 17. His mother did not put me on the birth certificate and I have not had a paternity test done. She only lets me see him when its convienient for her. I want to at least have weekends with my son. What do I do. Im from New Mexico by the way.

You must establish your paternity by filing a paternity action in children's court, then have a DNA test to prove you are or are not the father. When paternity is established, then you can seek visitation of your child. Bear in mind that you will also be subjecting yourself to child support obligations until the child is 18.
