Can my attorney kidnap a settement that my soon to be ex husband's lawyer send for me to review, due to a billing dispute?

Yes, but he/she must put all the money in an escrow account. If there is an agreement on some portion of the fees, the attorney can transfer that to his/her own agent account and send you the rest that is not in dispute e.g. 100K sent, argument is over $5K. Attorney must send you $95K and leave the $5K in the escrow acount until things are worked out. These are all clearly written ethics rules. Call the attorney and tell him you want the undisputed portion sent NOW.
