Without knowing sufficient details, I can state I am pretty sure they can. One act can result in multiple charges (hence the confusion people have with concurrent and consecutive sentences). If someone is sentenced to multiple counts to run concurrently, it is usually because of one act. Consecutive, for instance, might be kidnap, then rape-2 different acts, even though the person kidnapped the victim off the street so as to rape her.
