Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York

Bank Account Leins from debt owed

I live in Suffolk County, NY. I work 20 hrs a week.

Last year, my SFCU bank account was frozen. (for Mastercard) I then received a garnishment notice. I am currently being garnished for 23.40 a week. My SFCU account is still frozen, but can be unfrozen if I submit proof to the Lawyer that I am paying them.

I have since opened up a TFCU account. On 11-1, THAT was frozen by another lawyer (for Sears). I called them, and they KNEW I had another garnishment, so they couldn't garnish me again. They said they will unfreeze my account if I sign a waiver to allow the bank to send a check for the $219 to them towards the balance due ($1900).

MY QUESTION:

Because I already have a garnishment, can another lawyer TAKE MY MONEY that I have???? Or does he have to unfreeze my account and leave my money alone?

I only gross 234.00/ week, take home after garnishment is 183.00. I live on that. I am s------ beyond belief because I have to pay all my bills TWICE this month, So, in reality, they're only S------ themselves...making me poorer...it's going to take me months to catch up now.

thank you for any help!!

ps--I already gave a bankruptcy lawyer 1/2 to file Ch7, trying to save up rest.

Re: Bank Account Leins from debt owed

If you already have a lawyer, you need to talk with that lawyer about what's going on with your creditors and garnishments and the rest of the mess. No other lawyer is allowed to answer your questions since you are already represented.
