Legal Question in Technology Law in New York

wireless Internet con.

I have apt. in New York where I

spend two, three months a year

and I don't have telephone line or cable for internet connection. When

I terned on wireless connection switch my computer was automaticly connected to unsecured

wireless network.

Is this legal to use such connection?

In general the unauthorized use of a wireless connection is considered tresspassing and is illegal in the sense that you do not have permission to be on the network.

The use of free public networks and or those provided by vendors such as Starbucks or the local coffee house may have additional restrictions on their use as part of there terms granting you permission.

I would discontinue use unless you can establish that the network is provided as a community or other such service.
