Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Court action regarding debt that payments have already been made

Court action was taken on a debt due to a home building corporation for payment in the amount $1,250.00, which included lawyer and court fees. Original debt was $812.00. A payment was made in the amount of $100.00 prior to court papers being served . An additional payment of $500.00 was also made. The home building company accepted these payments. Home building company was contacted and a balance due to them is $212.00 which I will pay right away. Because payments were accepted am I still obligated to pay legal and court costs and still go to court.

If there is a court action, you must go or a default might be entered against you that could lead to a judgment against you.

Good Luck
