Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Return of security deposit

We spent three months in Florida and are now trying to get back our security deposit of $500. We signed a contract that said we would get our deposit back within 15 days of vacating the property. We vacated March 29, 2008. We have sent emails and made phone calls that go unanswered. What do we do now. We live in NYS.

Since you live in New York, and I presume the property and property owner is in Florida, you would have to go to court - probably small claims in Florida - I would suggest that the next time you are in Florida, that you contact the local court to find out where the small claims court would be that would handle it, and schedule it at the time that you would be down there.
