Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Being charged with grand larceny

I am being charged with grand larceny for stealing money out of the register. They are trying to blame me for stealing 2,668 dollars and 1,100 in one day. I have taken money out of the register and they have tapes to prove it, but they do not know how much I was taking out. I was only taking 200 at most. This is through a series of 5 days. They do not count the tills after every shift so anyone could have taken it, because the shortages come on a piece of paper that show what register is short and the law person at the store said he has access to whoever is on the register that day, but they do not count the tills after every shift. They put someone else onthe register when you go on break and lunch and also they have someone take over your register when your shift is over. They did an investigation on someone else and my name got brought up so they were only watching me and noone else. So anyone could have been taking money when I was not at the register because you have people take over your shifts and people that cover you for break. Also the cashier managers take the money and put them in bags to put them away for the next morning to get counted and the lights get shut off at 10 pm so anyone of those managers could have taken

Re: Being charged with grand larceny

I understand your position and that is the only theory that might work in trial but they have enough to charge you with grand larceny.

Re: Being charged with grand larceny

the amount of money theat was stolen in essence may serve as a defense, as there is a minimum for grand larceny which the few hundred dollars would not meet...

however, you are currently being charged with a serious crime and shoud consider hiring an attorney to assist you with this case.
