Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

came home from work, got a felony

came home tonight and detecs with a warrant searched my house for a stolen flatscreen tv that i had knowingly bought from someone who got busted and dropped my name i got charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree which is a felony, i posted a $500 bail. my only mistake was i made a statement saying that i knew it was stolen.. although on the defense side.. they said its valued at 1100 to make i a worse charge but really its worth 849 retail so it would be less of a charge but still im an idiot for making a statement i just didnt wanna spend the night in jail. so now i dont know what to do man i cant have a felony on my record i wont be able toi get financial aid for college! what could they possibly drop it to?!

Re: came home from work, got a felony

There are a lot of factors that go into plea negotiations, including your prior criminal history (if any). This is a very serious charge and a criminal record can change your life. You should immediately get a lawyer. I would be very interested in discussing legal representation with you and offer a free phone consultation. Please feel free to call me.

You must get an experienced attorney to represent you and defend your rights immediately. Doing so will also give you the best chance of significantly reducing the charges filed against you. We have substantial experience handling these types of cases, and our fees are quite reasonable, however, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination. You are welcome to contact us for a free consultation.
