Steroids are considered a CLASS III drug by the Federal Controlled Subtances Act. They are illegal to sell or possess without a doctor's prescription. Generally, steroid possession law enforcement is only slightly above anti-jaywalking enforcement in this country; however, large quantities may give rise to an intent to distribute charge, and many dealers have served time in Federal Penitentiaries for selling. The other illegality comes in the smuggling of steroids into the country. If caught with what is considered a personal use stash, the drugs are usually confiscated and the person may continue. A large quantity could result in arrest by Federal agents and imprisonment. Feel free to e-mail with more questions.
