2nd marriage

if you were married to someone in brazil and left and were never divorced can you come to the united states and marry an american? legally? what are the legal problems from this?

It does not matter that the other marriage was in Brazil - it it was legal there, it's legal here. To marry a second person in the United States without having been properly divorced from the first marriage would be a crime called bigamy.

If the marriage was legal in Brazil, it would be a bigamous and therefore illegal marriage to get married a second time in the U.S. without properly divorcing the first spouse.
