Legal Question in Family Law in New York

attorney fees

my husband and i have agreed to divorce. we own our home together and it is currently on the market. we have no children together, but each of us has children from previous marriages. we disagree on a large attorney's bill from my husband's custody trial. he won custody of his 7yr old daughter. he filed for this prior to our marriage and throughout the proceedings i was repeatedly told by the court that i was not a party to them. am i responsible for these attorney fees?

Re: attorney fees

No you are not. Any debt that is acquired before marriage is your husband's separate liability.
