Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I am living in USA and I recently got divorced . I got a child where I neeed to pay mychild support. Ny question is what happends to my child support when I come back and settle in India. My parents are old and I want to take care of them here in USA. Iam paying child support since I got divorced but not sure what happends when I land there, beacuase I will not be earning in Dollors and more over I will not have a job striaight away. please guide me.

You could file a petition for downward modification based on the fact thatyou had an unanticipated change of circumstances that forced you to return to India. Now that you are back in India you are getting paid less $ (in rupees ) and cannot make your required child support payments. Your ex will probably argue that you did this on purpose and should not be entitled to a downward modification. However, it is worth a shot.

To specifically answer your question, you have the duty to comply with a court order unless the order is amended or modified.
