Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I fired my Attorney for not doing his job. I would like my record and he is refusing. Is this legal in New York State?

Joel Salinger Law Office of Joel R. Salinger

It depends on the reasons for the refusal and the contents of the file. If it is a fee dispute and the contents are not documents fro the case but the attorney's work product then yes it is legal. You should attempt to reason with your attorney and find out the reasons they are refusing to give you your file. You can also request a fee arbitration. Contact the attorney and request an explanation and a fee arbitration.
