Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I've been married for 18 years with no children. My husband is my only support. Can I file for divorce and get alimony payments from my husband or is it better he files? Our marriage is over and I can no longer take the mental torture

It does not matter who files first. You might be able to get alimony, however, more facts are needed. You are also eligible to an equitable distribution of all marital assets. I suggest you consult an attorney.

Consult an attorney and file right away before your spouse squanders any assets. Do not wait for him to file, he could delay in order to hide money, property, etc.
