Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I pay child support under a stipulation to my ex-wife. Recently, I brought to her attention that she owes me money for her pro-rata share of our son's healthcare expenses. My ex sent me a letter instructing me to deduct what she owes from the child support that I send. Even though she put it in writing I want to know if it's legal or if I have to amend our stipulation. We live in Nassau County New York State.

I would suggest a modification of the support provisions of your agreement or divorce decree. Both parties should be represented to prevent future litigation.
