Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My Wife Claims our House was a Gift from her mother

Our house was acquired a few months after our marriage, by a deed to my wife from her mother. Her mother advanced the downpayment, but did not transfer the house until we paid her back for the downpayment. I paid all the bills and paid off the mortgage/ It is now 35 years (and 3 kids) later, and my wife wants a divorce. Naturally, she wants to give me nothing out of the house; she claims it is her SEPARATE PROPERTY. Suggestions?

There are several theories by which either your house or your contributions to the house are recoverable.

I suggest you consult with an attorney.
