Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Can someone have a case against you if they purchase a com building and after closing discover that there are violations that DOB does not know about?

the new owner wants to make changes to the apts and the architect says that there are violations in the apts and now he wants to sue, for me to pay for the violations to be fixed. am i responsible if i didn't even know about the certain codes and violations they are refering to.

I would have to read all of the paperwork involved. Typically, the buyer has the responsibility for ensuring that the building is up to specification. If you buy the building, you usually buy the liabilities. Again, this is contract specific.
