Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

litigation process

in a medical malpractice wrongful death case, the case is in the special trial part, there has ben two adjournments and 2 ready and passed in this part, there has been no summary judgments what are the chances in a case like this going to trial or will it settle, is this the normal process, its been 4 years since it started

Settlement possibilities can't be determined from limited information as to the prior schedule. Whether there will be a settlement depends on a number of factors, most notably the quality of the evidence gathered in discovery, the attorneys' assesment of the credibility of potential witnesses, and the demands being made by the plaintiff.
