Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

I was laid off with severance and replaced

I was laid off by my company they said it was for the needs of the business and they said it was unfortunate. I signed a severance agreement. After my release they hired someone to replace me. I feel i was discrimated against. My performance was fine. Never any problems.

Re: I was laid off with severance and replaced

My guess is, the severence agreement included a provision which precludes you from bringing any action or claim based upon a severence payment. If that is so, then unless you can prove fraud or coersion (very difficult) it is quite unlikely that a court will hear your case.

However, if you wish to discuss this matter, feel free to call me at 201-599-0744.
