landlords and pets (pitbull)

Can a landlord be held accountable if a tenants animal where to harm someone ? Either on the property or off the property. I am talking of a pitbull.

Conceivably yes. If he was aware of the harm and didn't take reasonable and necessary steps to protect tenants from harm.
