Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

Auto Accident

I recently tapped another vehicles driver side door with my bumper. It only needs to be buffed and and some touch up paint. There is no major damage or dents. No ambulance or police called no one was injured. We agreed not to go through insurance if I paid for the damages. How do I make sure the guy doesnt turn around and sue me for any trama or phsyical damages he might say he has in the future.

Re: Auto Accident

Your best approach would be to get a signed, notarized, general release in exchange for your check, one that makes it clear you are being released from any and all actions, whether for personal injury or property damage arising from the incident of whatever date. Another safeguard would be to write "accord and satisfaction" on your check. This language tends to announce that the acceptance of money from you lays to rest any future claims. Good luck.
