Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

i was jumped and got put in the hospital with damages to the head. i know the kid that did it and hes 18. so if i sue him and he doesnt have the money what happends then ? is it possible to press charges and sue him ?

You can sue him. If you win, you will obtain a judgment which will follow him when he gets a job, obtains assets, or makes any money, and you'll be able to collect a certain percentage.
