Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

What is the liability due to injury a hotel has toward its guests? What is the liability against people who arent guests if there is no "sign-in" requirement, ie not guests but free-riders?

In New York, a landowner has a reasonable duty of care under the circumstances to all persons; New York does not differentiate based on the plaintiff's status, although whether or not the person is a registered guest might be one of the relevant circumstances to be considered.
