Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Lent Money to a Friend With No Contract

Last March I lent a friend $3,500 for an aparment.

I made the check to their landlord directly - my friend promised I would be paid monthly over the summer.

To date I have been paid $200.00. I was given other checks that have bounced.

My friend has said repeatedly that they do not want to pay.

I did make the landlord aware of the situation.

Do I have recourse in small claims court?

Is someone willing to represent me in this matter?

Thank you.
