Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

I was visiting friends in Virginia last week. Im from N.Y. I recieved a speeding ticket coming down a hill. After when I was reading the ticket I noticed he wrote my plate # wrong. All the other info. name, address yatta-yatta was correct. Because the plate # being wrong can it be dismissed? Or Im I stuck with Virginia,s welcome wagon reciept?

Thank you for your time :)

The primary information required on a Traffic Summons is your pedigree information and the infraction you are facing so you can prepare a defense.

The pedigree info; your name, address and motorist identification number is necessary to demonstrate that you have been given proper notice and the charge so you can prepare a defense. The plate number will not make a ticket defective.

This is your welcome to New York. Sorry. You can fight it but you will need an attorney or you will need to go to court and know how to try a case.

Good Luck.
