Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

I have discharged my lawyer from my case in a will dispute. He wrote a letter to the judge and the opposing attorneys, is this appropriate protocol? Thank you.

Paula McGill Attorney at Law

Did he write the letter informing them that he no longer represents you?

If so, this is correct to do. Indeed, after you discharge n attorney, you don't want him receiving pleadings and letter from the court or opposing counsel.
