Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Estates name change

Hello,

My mother and father passed away this past year.

There was no WILL for the house that we own. My name is the only name on the Deed with my parents. My sisters and brothers have signed a statment saying they have no intrest in this property. How difficult is it to transfer the Deed to my name only?

Re: Estates name change

If you were a joint owner, as survivor you can deed the property to yourself. If the property was held as tenants in common an estate administrator is needed. You will have to petition the court.
