Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Have been made admin. of estate but my father left no will

My father passed away 9 months ago and there was no will. As the oldest child, out of 2, I have been made admin. of estate. He has stock - which is about 10,000.00, and a car (which is about 2,000.00). Are the children entitled to anything before creditors have to be paid? And what process do the creditors have to take to try and retrieve their money?

All debts must be paid before anyone can receive an inheritance. Creditors have 7 months from the date when the Court issued your letters of administration to notify you of claims against the estate.
