Legal Question in Bankruptcy in North Carolina

Bankruptcy and renting

I am considering filing a chapter 13 in n.C.

I currently pay a large amount of money to rent an apartment. Is there anything i can do to terminate my current rental agreement so i can lower my monthly debt.

Maybe. It depends on the circumstances, including what the lease says.

Do yourself a favor, and speak to a lawyer who can learn all the relevant facts. But understand, that you will probably not be able to reduce the rent and stay in the apartment - unless you can persuade the landlord to agree.
