wanting info on my rights

Can my chain of command force you to put your privately owned weapon in the armes room if you reside off military posts

No, but you may not legally take your private firearm onto the military installation either on your person or in your vehicle. Also, your refusal may have consequences in other areas. Military life is not the same as civilian life.
