Legal Question in Technology Law in North Carolina

Approximately a year and a half ago our home was raided by the FBI. My spouse was accused of hacking into a former client's computer. This whole ordeal has been very traumatic. A misdemanor was offered but we were not going to admit to something we didn't do. My spouse contacted our state senator and this infuriated the US Asst District Atty. The US Asst. Disctrict Atty basically sent en email to our atty enraged that my spouse did this and that all offers of a misdeamonor were off the table as a result. Is this legal?? It seems like intimidiation... Another misdemeanor has since been offered and the US District atty said this would be his last offer. He said he would have the FBI do "further investigative forensics" if we did not take the plea. What is your opinion on all of this? I am so sicl to my stomach over this.

Sounds like your spouse needs to quickly hire a good Federal criminal defense lawyer and then needs to follow that lawyer's advice.
