Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

Friend Owes Money

I had a friend who credit was bad and couldn't get cable turned on in his name. I had the cable turned on in my name because of our friendship. He moved and didn't turn in the cable box and didn't pay the outstanding bill. Can I take him to court and make him pay this. The bill is still in my name.

Re: Friend Owes Money

You will likely have to pay the bill yourself since the service is in your name. He has no relationship withthe cable company. You can then do one of two things; you can either retain an attorney to collect your money or you can take him to small claims court yourself. I may have a cheaper solution to outright retaining an attorney at this point in time. If you are interested in obtaining access to legal advice for this and any other issues that may arise without the need to pay out big bucks first, please e-mail me and I will send some info out to you.

Either way, I wish you good luck.
